Get the same great results without using more product than necessary.

Applying the Shampoo Before adding the shampoo, you first want to make sure you’ve rinsed your hair really well. Consider how your hair stylist rinses your hair, and even uses their fingertips to massage and gently scrub the scalp to get the extra sediment out and dead skin cells removed, before applying the shampoo. Now, after your thorough rinse, spread the shampoo in your palms. Add a splash of water to your hair and then apply the shampoo to your roots. Use your palms to rub the shampoo around, and then use your fingertips to gently massage and spread evenly. This will help the mild sulfate-free cleansing agents lather up a bit and evenly spread.

If you’re still not getting the shampoo to spread or are not feeling any lather, try adding a splash of water. Then when rinsing the shampoo from your hair, alternate from using the fingertip massaging technique to get the product and any remaining sediment rinsed out, to squeezing from your roots to your ends. Keep in mind that if you let several days go by in between shampooing, and/or if you use styling products, that it may require a little more product or extra effort to cleanse with a sulfate-free shampoo (as a sulfate-based shampoo is designed to strip the hair, even of it’s good and necessary oils).

Once you have rinsed thoroughly, your hair texture should feel squeaky clean (not moisturized or even soft necessarily), because our shampoo doesn’t contain parabens or other unnecessary conditioning ingredients. The conditioning is to be done by the conditioner, and by having the hair be squeaky clean, it will be better prepared to soak up the conditioning ingredients.

Applying the Conditioner

After rinsing out the shampoo, apply and spread a dollop of conditioner in your palms, and then apply to your hair and scalp. For some people it is necessary to avoid adding the conditioner to the roots, as their hair and scalp type can tend to be oily and will cause the hair to lay down or become greasy-looking sooner. In this case, you may want to try limiting the time the conditioner is on your scalp, or avoid the scalp altogether and simply focus on applying the conditioner to the hair alone.

On the other hand, our shampoo and conditioner are loaded with ingredients that promote a healthy scalp. After consistent use, the conditioner may help balance out previous over-production of oils or scalp issues, such as itchy scalp or dandruff.

Using a wide-tooth comb can also be helpful to spread the conditioner down to the ends of your hair, as well as detangle (gently work from the ends up to the roots.) Take a minute to massage it thoroughly into your hair and scalp.

If your hair is typically dry, you’ll get more benefit from leaving it on to soak for several minutes. Don’t be surprised if you feel stimulation from the essential oils – the cooling, tingling or warming sensation reflects that your scalp is being stimulated by these healthy natural ingredients.

Using Styling Products with your Sulfate-Free Shampoo

It’s good to know that if you use styling products (such as gels, mousse, hair cream, hairspray, etc), and/or are not washing for several days, when using any kind of sulfate-free shampoo, you’re likely to have more build up, resulting in your hair or scalp appearing unclean (i.e. greasy/oily, flaky) or by feeling dry or itching.

Since sulfates are known for stripping the hair, they are able to handle lots of product build up or several days of not washing. So using a sulfate-free shampoo is a bit of a trade off: no sulfates means that you’re working with a gentler product that may require a little extra effort (i.e. adding water to get it to spread better), or even a little extra shampoo to remove build up – vs – a sulfate based shampoo is more harsh on your hair/scalp and contains ingredients that are linked to numerous scalp, skin and health conditions.

   Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions or requests we’ve received from our customers:

“Does it contain sulfates?”

No. LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner are 100% free from sulfates. Some ingredients may cause confusion over this because they have similar names that lead to the assumption that there are sulfates, such as:Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA) – though Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) and SLSA look and sound very similar, they are not the same. SLSA is a natural alternative to SLS. It is derived from coconut and palm oils, and conforms to Ecocert’s natural and organic cosmetic standard and is 100% of natural origin.

Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate (DLS)

This is not the same thing as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or any other Sulfate surfactant. Sulfates are irritating in part because they’re small molecules that can penetrate and irritate the skin. DLS is a larger molecule that can’t penetrate skin. It belongs to a category known as anionic surfactants, meaning that it has a negative charge. The safety and mildness of DLS lies in the absence of a sulfate ion head, which is commonly found in many other surfactants. The sulfate ion, which originates in sulfuric acid, is replaced with the more stable and safer sulfonated ester. The result is an effective yet safe product that offers a plethora of advantages over sulfate chemicals. It’s considered very gentle on the skin, and is even suitable for more sensitive skin types. It’s manufactured as an added gentle foaming agent, which helps to create a lathering effect (since we don’t use sulfates that would otherwise help the shampoo lather).

While DLS has gentler properties than SLS, studies have shown that it can potentially irritate the skin in some people. There is no such thing that is not irritating to everyone, as our bodies are unique. Even 100% organic compounds (such as peanut oil or grape seed oil) can cause reactions in some people.

What’s important to note here is that DLS cannot penetrate the hair or skin. It does not affect keratin treatments, for example, because it only removes surface oil, which would be outside the keratin.

Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is a natural product, made from coconut oil, and is derived from sarcosine, a natural amino acid found in the human body and just about every type of biological material from animals to plants. They may have the same initials (SLS), but sodium lauroyl sarcosinate and sodium lauryl sulfate are NOT the same thing. Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate is only similar to sodium lauryl sulfate in that they’re both surfactants, but that’s about where it ends.

A comprehensive safety assessment published in the International Journal of Toxicology deemed that sodium lauroyl sarcosinate was not expected to be potentially toxic or harmful, and had no mutagenic, irritating, or sensitizing effects.

We chose Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate because it is very mild, but also very effective. What’s more, it’s included in the Handbook of Green Chemicalsand is also Whole Foods Premium Body Careapproved — two stamps of approval that validate our confidence in the safety and sustainability of this ingredient. For more about ingredients, click here.

“I wish the shampoo had more lather.”

First, it’s important that you are aware that sulfate-free shampoos do not foam or lather up like other sulfate-based shampoos that can be harsh on hair and scalps, and cause health issues. Since LuxeOrganix is a sulfate-free shampoo (which means it will not lather the same as shampoos containing sulfates), hair type and length make a big difference when it comes to how much product is needed, as well as how it is used to get beautiful results.

As you know, using products with sulfates can cause a lot of problems for people, such as itchy, flaky and irritated scalps. It can be a little strange at first if this is your first experience using a sulfate-free shampoo, but just because it doesn’t have a lot of suds, doesn’t mean it isn’t cleansing your hair. We have been conditioned to associate suds with cleanliness, so it can take some getting used to (and trusting) that your sulfate-free shampoo is doing the job. (I know it was an adjustment for me!)

“Where can I find an ingredients list?”

You can find a complete list of ingredients, including additional details about each, by clicking here.

“Why does my hair feel dry?”

Though this is certainly more rare than what is normal for our customers, since our Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner set were designed to moisturize and soften hair, we have had a few customers with this concern. We have come across several possibilities of why someone may feel their hair is dry after using the shampoo, but let’s first look at the most likely reason, which is how the shampoo is designed.

LuxeOrganix Argan oil shampoo was designed to be a healthy alternative to salon quality products (as well as free from harsh and unnecessary extra ingredients that can cause many issues). It is not loaded up with extra moisturizers (or parabens), which can be found in lower quality, sulfate-based shampoos that strip hair of it’s natural, beneficial oils. These extra moisturizers or parabens give the impression of your hair feeling soft after washing with shampoo. So since LuxeOrganix doesn’t contain anything unnecessary, as mentioned above, this could be why for some, after rinsing out the shampoo, may feel their hair is dry; however, it should only be a reflection of your hair being squeaky clean, and is now prepared to be deeply moisturized and protected by the ingredients included in the conditioner.

Simply put – it’s designed not to be a stand alone product, but instead to be paired with the LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Conditioner.

Applying the Shampoo

Before adding the shampoo, you first want to make sure you’ve rinsed your hair reallywell. Consider how your hair stylist rinses your hair, and even uses their fingertips to massage and scrub the scalp to get the extra sediment out and dead skin cells removed, before applying the shampoo.

Now, after your thorough rinse, spread the shampoo across your palms. Add a splash of water to your hair and then apply the shampoo to your roots. Use your palms to rub the shampoo around, and then use your fingertips to scrub and spread evenly. This will help the gentle sulfate-free cleansing agents lather up a bit and evenly spread.

If you’re still not getting the shampoo to spread or are not feeling any lather, try adding a splash of water. Then when rinsing the shampoo from your hair, alternate from using the fingertip scrubbing technique to get the product and any remaining sediment rinsed out, to squeezing from your roots to your ends.

After rinsing out the shampoo, apply a dollop of conditioner to your hair and scalp. (For some people it is necessary to avoid adding the conditioner to the roots, as their hair/scalp type can tend to be oily and will cause the hair to lay down or become greasy-looking sooner. In this case, simply focus applying the conditioner to the hair alone.) Using a comb can also be helpful to spread the conditioner down to the ends of your hair, as well as detangle. Take a few minutes to massage it thoroughly into your hair and leave it on to soak for the remainder of your shower. (If your hair is typically dry, you’ll get more benefit from leaving it 5-10 minutes, vs. the standard 3-4 minutes that are suggested on the bottle instructions).

So using a sulfate-free shampoo is a bit of a trade off: no sulfates means that you’re working with a gentler product that may require a little extra effort (i.e. adding water to get it to spread better), or even a little extra shampoo to remove build up – vs – a sulfate based shampoo is more harsh on your hair/scalp and contains ingredients that are linked to numerous scalp, skin and health conditions.Being sure to rinse and scrub well, like a professional stylist does when shampooing your hair, along with leaving the shampoo on for just a minute or two to soak, before rinsing, can give the cleansing agents a chance to work at removing extra sediment.

However, another common reason for hair feeling dry after washing it with the shampoo, is that the hair is already severely dehydrated or even damaged. Many of our customers have found it helpful that after washing with the shampoo and conditioner, following with a small amount of LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Styling Cream helps add hydration and control, leaving hair smooth and frizz free, and adding manageability.

Also helpful is to occasionally use a deep conditioning hair mask, in place of the Argan Oil Conditioner. TheLuxeOrganix Deep Conditioner Hair Maskis designed to pair perfectly with the Argan Oil Shampoo, and can make a significant difference in the health of your hair and scalp.

If you’re frustrated with dry scalp or hair, and want to give it something nourishing, you can’t beat the premium ingredients that are in this hair mask. You will notice almost immediately how it penetrates deeply, to strengthen, repair and grow healthy hair.Of course using high quality products meant for your specific hair type is only part of the equation.

Taking good care of your hair, eating healthy foods that will enable your hair to grow healthier, and using simple home remedies can help treat and restore dry hair to being naturally beautiful.

First, let’s look at some of the different factors that can cause your hair to become dry or damaged:• The weather• Heat styling• Too many smoothing treatments (such as Keratin treatments) too closely together• Hormone changes or treatments• Using any hair products with harsh sulfates• Brushing your hair when it is wet• Over using shampoo, stripping your hair of it’s natural oils• Chasing split ends (hair that needs to be cut above the split to stop it)The good news is there are many available solutions as to how to help remedy this, in addition to using the LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner as part of your hair’s healing process. Let’s explore some ideas for you below. How To Rejuvenate and Protect Your Hair 1.Dealing with the Weather:Though you probably already realize that dry and brittle hair is a year-round problem, winter’s cold combined with higher temperatures indoors can parch and dry out your hair. So you’ll want to adjust your winter hair care regimen if this is a common challenge for you. Plan to give you hair a heavier dose of moisturizing love, by allowing your conditioner to soak longer than you normally would (normal soak time is 3-4 minutes, in the winter you’ll want to stretch it to at least 5-10 minutes). Also consider adding a hair mask to your regimen. More on that in minute….2.Heat Style the Right Way with the Right Tools: Did you ever see the YouTube video where the girl burned off all her hair with a curling wand? There are right ways and definitely wrong ways to style with heat. You can use hairspray and other products that contain, say alcohols, but you want to have a barrier between the hairspray and your hair. The way you create the barrier is by using something with an oil base. (OurArgan Oil Styling Creamis perfect for this as it contains a Thermal Heat Protectant that provides hydration and control.)
-IMPORTANT: Always make sure your hair is 100% dry before using a heat styling tool, such as a curling iron or flat iron. If you are using a styling gel, spray or something similar, make sure your hair has been thoroughly dried beforehand. Be careful to avoid burning your hair when using a blow dryer by making sure your heat setting is not too high that it would burn your skin (this is a good way to test if it is too hot for your hair), and don’t hold the blow dryer so close to your hair that you see smoke or smell it. Also important for drying your hair: traditional blow dryers dry the hair from within the hair shaft to the outer layer, and also take longer to dry the hair. An Ion Blow Dryer; however, dries hair from the outside, which not only makes a great impact on the health of your hair, but it also saves you a lot of time by drying the hair faster. If you blow dry your hair, investing in an Ion blow dryer is a wise investment for the health of your hair.3.Minimize “too many” Smoothing Treatments: Consider taking a break from or discontinue straightening (or Keratin) treatments by just “going with” your hair type. Typically those of us with naturally curly hair love straightening our hair because we aren’t thrilled with how our locks look. They may look frizzy, or have unnatural kinks. A well trained stylist should be able to advise you of styling products that can work with your natural hair, and give you beautiful, bouncy locks. Another secret for dealing with those few sections of your hair that don’t curl up well like the others, is to simply use a curl iron or wand to spot treat those difficult areas. You can also define your curls by twisting them around your finger while they are still damp after showering and applying a styling cream. Then simply let them air dry or use a diffuser on your hair dryer, occasionally scrunching (without rubbing) your hair.4.Use Sulfate-Free Products: Not only do you want to watch out for sulfates in your shampoo, but you also want to check to see if your hair styling products contain sulfates. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is widely recognized as a culprit of not only causing dry, brittle hair, but it also can lead to itchy, flaky, irritated scalp; dull, lifeless hair; frizz; volume and manageability issues, let alone other health concerns. Another issue with sulfates is that they fade color. So if you’re color-treating your hair and using sulfate-based products, you may be decreasing your colors vibrance and longevity. Using products with alcohol and detergents will also cause problems. If you find that you have styling products with these ingredients, consider finding healthier alternatives that provide you with the same results. It may take some experimenting to find a permanent replacement, but your hair will thank you for it (and so will your body).5.Give Your Hair a Break From Shampoo: You may have already heard from your stylist that “you shouldn’t wash your hair everyday,” and that you should give yourself at least a day off in between shampooing. This is something you may or may not already be doing; however, if for whatever reason this strategy isn’t a good fit for you, here’s another alternative (or even an additional bonus to consider adding if you have extremely dry or brittle hair). It’s called, “co-washing.” Maybe you’ve heard of it? The idea is to stretch out your shampoo days by exchanging it

Skin Types This Cleanser is Best For

Though LuxeOrganix Remarkably Clean Purifying Facial Cleanser is often chosen simply as a healthy cleanser by those with normal, dry or dehydrated skin, it is also perfect for rejuvenating, protecting and repairing damaged skin.

Those who want to gently clean their skin, remove makeup, minimize pores, and help prevent blemishes can expect visible benefits after ongoing continued use of this product, as part of their overall daily skin care routine.

Free of parabens and other commonly used harsh ingredients, LuxeOrganix Remarkably Clean Cleanser is safe for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin.

However, if you have extremely sensitive or allergic skin, it is always recommended you should do a small patch test for compatibility prior to using any new products.

To test for compatibility, the side of the neck is a smart place to apply a small amount of the product. If it is tolerated on your neck, you can be confident that it will be tolerated on your face, as well.

Note: The #1 ingredient that causes allergic reactions are synthetic fragrances, which typically are listed as “parfum”, “perfume” or “fragrance” on the product packaging. Our Remarkably Clean Purifying facial Cleanser is free from these ingredients, and is naturally scented by the refreshing essential oils of grapefruit and rosehip.

Not only will your skin thank you for treating yourself to this purifying cleanser, but you’ll also feel great knowing that it is non-toxic and free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, PEG compounds, petrochemicals, dyes or artificial fragrances.

How To Achieve Healthy, Youthful Skin

Achieving and maintaining healthy, youthful skin all comes down to keeping your skin clean and balanced. Removing your makeup at night is a very important part of keeping your face clear without breakouts and acne. For women who are older than 20, it is also an important part of maintaining a youthful appearance.

If you leave your mascara on all night it can the lashes, which causes them to crack and break off. Base or foundation that is left on all night will dry out the skin and clog the pores.

Begin by removing your eye makeup with a cotton ball moistened with a makeup remover, or a natural oil, such as Jojoba oil. Apply your chosen makeup remover over your eye makeup and mascara and let it soften the mascara so it removes easily. With waterproof mascara this might take a minute and some additional effort.

Waterproof mascara is actually very damaging to the lashes as you remove it. If at all possible use a mascara that isn’t waterproof unless you are going into a situation where you know that you’ll be shedding tears, such as a wedding or funeral. At other times if you cry unexpectedly you may lose a bit of your mascara but you’ll have healthy eyelashes in the long-term.

Next use a cleaner that is best for your skin type, and be sure the cleanser can be used for makeup removal. (If you’re not sure what you skin type is, see the section below on determining your own skin type.) Never use bar soap to clean your face. Because of the pH differences you’ll do more damage to your face with bar soap than by leaving the makeup on overnight.

Use lukewarm water to lather up the cleanser and help the makeup to breakdown on your face. You don’t want to scrub hard but using the warm water and a dollop of the cleanser rub it into a lather and rub it gently over your face concentrating on the places where you apply makeup.

Also helpful is to use a silicone face brush (“scrubbie”), which not only can help with getting the cleanser to lather up easier, but it can also help to remove makeup more effectively than just using your hands and fingers. And it’s reusable!

Spend a minute, at least 60 seconds, to go over your face and be sure you’ve cleaned all areas. You will also want to clean your neck gently to help remove any powder, perfume and daily dirt that settles there.

Now rinse your face several times with lukewarm water to wash away the cleanser and makeup from your face. You may enjoy using a warm wet washcloth instead – but don’t scrub. You may also prefer to splash cold water on your face at the very end to tighten your pores.

Now pat your face dry. Don’t rub or scrub with the towel, but just gently pat the areas dry.

Use a Toner: Here's Why
You may be surprised to find more dirt or makeup removed with the cotton swab and toner that you may have missed with the cleanser. Use a liberal amount of toner for your skin type. The toner will help to clear your pores, tighten your skin and help prepare it for any of the night creams or serums that you will be using. It also helps to balance the skin after cleanser and before moisturizers.
How to Moisturize Properly

Apply a gentle moisturizing eye cream, such asLuxeOrganix Brilliant Eyes, which only requires a very small amount to spread across your eyelids, underneath your eyes and around the corners of your eyes where we are prone to get ‘crows feet’ wrinkles.

Use a tiny pea-size of the eye cream on your ring finger to gently tap the the product onto your skin (a gentle tapping motion helps to reduce puffiness and smooth the underage area).

Avoid rubbing the skin since this area is delicate and prone to fine lines and wrinkles.Next, if you are using a serum, apply it around your face and neck. Avoid the eyes unless your serum instructions show that it is safe for or specifically advises to use on or around the eyes.

Whether you are using a serum or not, you absolutely want to use a face moisturizing cream.

Depending on your skin type, use a lightweight moisturizer (often specified as a daytime moisturizer or daily face cream) or use a heavier moisturizer (often referred to as a nighttime moisturizer) if your skin is dry or feeling dehydrated. Spread a light layer across your face and neck.

Professional Tip: Prevent bacteria getting into your jar by using a q-tip or facial spatula, such as the type of spatula that is included with the Brilliant Eyes Daily Eye Cream. You’ll also enjoy not having your cream underneath your nails, saving you time and preventing waste!

OurLuxeOrganix Vitamin C Infusion Moisturizer Pump is an airless pump which is known to not only preserve the product inside but also easy to use.

Don’t forget your lips. The skin over the lips is thinner than anywhere else on the face. Use a strong emollient-based product each night to keep your lips plump and kissable the next day.

Your choice of moisturizers should include ingredients such as hyaluronic acid to help maintain plump radiant skin cells and peptides.

Peptides are the new buzz-word in the skin care industry. The addition of these substances have been shown to improve skin elasticity, improvement in roughness, clarity, fine lines and wrinkles. Your mind will be at ease knowing these skin-health ingredients are included in LuxeOrganix’s eye and face moisturizing creams.

Your cleansing routine shouldn’t be done just in the evening. Cleaning makeup and daily dirt from your face is important, but cleaning away dead cells and pillow lint in the morning can be just as important before putting on new makeup and facing the day.

Follow a similar routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing. In the morning use a lightweight daily moisturizer, such as LuxeOrganix Vitamin C Infusion, as well as theBrilliant Eyes Bio-Advanced Daily Eye Creamto help nourish and protect your skin from dehydration throughout the day.

After applying your creams to your face and neck, be sure to apply a sunscreen of SPF 15, or use a BB Tinted Moisturizer or foundation that include an SPF. Don’t forget that your neck is exposed to sun exposure, too. So if you are using a BB Tint or foundation with SPF, you will want to apply a separate sunscreen to your neck area (best to do this before applying your tint or foundation).

Daily Skin Care Routine For Healthy, Youthful Skin
  1. Take off your makeup, especially mascara, with a gentle makeup remover.
  2. Clean your face twice a day, morning and evening, to remove makeup, daily dirt and pillow lint.
  3. After cleansing use a balancing toner to continue removing the last of the toxins and waste products from your skin as well as prepare it for moisturizer. Optional, but helpful is to follow with a serum.
  4. Use a specific cream designed for the eyes.
  5. Find a moisturizer that fits your skin type so you reap the benefits of skin that is well balanced, without clogged pores and retaining as much moisture as is possible.

Certainly your new Vitamin C Infusion moisturizer will be a key component in your skin care routine to help you achieve and maintain healthy, youthful skin.

How To Prevent Damage To Your Skin

Preventing additional damage is just as important to get and keep your skin healthy . One of the simplest steps you can take is to have a look at all of the products you’re applying to your skin on a regular basis.

By now you may know that avoiding harmful chemicals and ingredients such as sulfates, parabens, phthalates, PEG compounds, petrochemicals, dyes or artificial fragrances can negatively impact the appearance and health of your skin. So you want to check the the back of the box or bottles, or look up online the ingredients for the products you are applying to your skin, and check them to see if they contain these ingredients.

If they do, it would serve your skin well to find a more natural and organic alternative, that doesn’t have these type of ingredients.

The main idea here is that if you’re going to be putting all this effort into achieving clean, moisturized and balanced skin by using healthy skin care products like Vitamin C Infusion, it would be counter-productive and wouldn’t make good sense to then go right back to using products with ingredients that can have adverse affects on your skin.

Now to dig a little deeper, let’s look at some of the other factors that can cause aging and damage to your skin.

Factors That Cause Skin To Age

Each day our skin is assaulted by agents and factors that can cause aging. Your skin may begin to look dull and you may see wrinkles around your mouth and eyes. But you can fight against premature aging of your skin with just a little know how and action.

Young people often don’t ask what damages the skin.Instead most don’t give any second thought to the sun, or forget to moisturize, eat junk foods and don’t drink enough water. When, in fact, those are many of the pieces of the puzzle that damage the skin and cause wrinkles, fine lines and age spots.

The relationship between these factors to free radicals is the basis of the cause of the changes to the skin. These free radicals gobble up collagen and elastin, the fibers that support skin structure preventing wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Free radicals are a harmful byproduct of sunlight, smoke and pollution to name the greatest culprits to damage to the collagen and elastin layers.

To start you should know there are two types of factors that are causes of skin aging. There are internal and external factors. Internal factors are ones that can’t be stopped and are related to the decreases in hormone production, elastin, collagen and structure of the skin. External factors can be affected which will decrease your risk for premature aging of the skin.

One of the problems with preventing the causes of skin aging is that you may know what they are but you don’t do anything about them. Education is great but actions speak louder than words. People often already know the causes of skin aging from news media and magazines but without action your skin will continue to age prematurely.

There are several different types of damage to the skin. The first happens from things that can’t be changed – such as aging. There just isn’t a way to stop the hands of time. And the hands of time affect your skin and your body. Aging decreases the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin that will decrease the amount of flesh under the skin. Between the lack of collagen and gravity, you end up developing jowls, wrinkles, fine lines and crows feet.

But, if you do what you can to alleviate the damages that you can change, the hands of time won’t be as unforgiving and you can retain much of your youthful appearance long past the years your parents did.

Begin With Sunscreen

Use sunscreen no matter what your age is. When ever you go into the sun or outside you can prevent the signs of aging before they even happen by using a sunscreen that has an SPF of 15 or higher. Get into the habit of using it early morning on your face and hands. Some foundations and tinted moisturizers will also have this level of protection.

Don’t forget about the backs of your hands. Your face may be without wrinkles or sunspots but your hands may tell your age. Your hands are exposed to the sun each day when you are behind the wheel of your car or sitting near a window.

One of the first signs of sun damage is a suntan, which results from injury to the epidermis layer of the skin. The UV light accelerates the production of melanin. The extra melanin creates the tan, which is actually the body’s way of protecting the skin from further damage by UV light.

Eventually sun will cause a sunburn that kills and damages skin cells. If there is enough sun to cause a burn there will also be damage to the DNA of the skin cells.

For instance, researchers know that exposure to the sun increases the amount of collagen and elastin that are lost in your skin, speeding the aging process. Exposure to the sun damages the skin and increases your risk of skin cancer as well. The problem stems from the ultraviolet rays from the sun and tanning beds and fluorescent lighting. So, although you may be spending the majority of your time indoors in an office, if there is fluorescent lighting you still need sunscreen each morning under your makeup and on your exposed skin.

The bottom line is that you should avoid the sun during the high-intensity hours and use sunscreen at all times. During appropriate weather cover your skin with clothing that provides the best protection against the sun. You don’t have to hide away indoors, and in fact under fluorescent lighting, staying indoors isn’t really protection. Be sharp about your sun exposure, wear protection and think smart.

Other things that damage the skin are a lack of moisture from poor fluid intake and poor external moisturizer. You should drink 8-10 (8-ounce) glasses of water each day.

vitamin C infusion daily facial moisturizerWhen your skin becomes dry it can show more wrinkles. You can use moisture from the outside and the inside. Start by staying hydrated each day. This helps your skin cells to stay plump and healthy, which gives your skin a healthy glow.

You don’t need to spend a great deal of money on body moisturizers; coconut oil and olive oil after a bath or shower when your skin is still wet is a great addition to your daily routine. Some people can get away with using a simple moisturizing oil, such as coconut or olive oils, on their face. But for many, these oils alone can cause adverse effects, such as acne breakouts.

For most people, investing in a healthy facial moisturizer, like Vitamin C Infusion, and applying it twice a day is a smart and effective way to create a barrier that stops the skin from losing essential moisture. Facial moisturizers will help slow the aging process, decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and slow the development of age spots.

Establish a daily routine and you will soon notice a decrease in the appearance of fine lines.Keep in mind that not all facial moisturizers are good or even safe to use on your eyelids or under your eyes. The skin around your eyes is the most sensitive, and therefore using an eye moisturizing cream, that is specifically developed to be used around your eyes, will save you from suffering.

Interestingly one of the external factors that are a cause of skin aging is facial expression. Repeated facial expressions can actually lead to fine lines and wrinkles. As your skin ages and loses elasticity it stops springing back to its line free state. So if you are frowning constantly – stop! The grooves become permanently etched in your face.

Another one of the causes of skin aging is the position you sleep in at night. When you rest your face on the pillow in the same way every night for years it leads to wrinkles. These wrinkles are called sleep lines and are etched into your face and don’t disappear when you are awake and walking around. People who sleep on their back do not develop these wrinkles since their skin doesn’t lie crumpled against the pillow.

Smoking is another factor that damages the skin. Smoking causes wrinkles from the squinting of your eyes due to the irritation of the smoke, pursing your lips to smoke the cigarette and a break down of collagen and elastin from the nicotine in the tobacco.

Researchers have found that tobacco increases the loss of collagen and elastin, which improve the structure of the skin.Loss of the collagen and elastin increase the development of wrinkles, jowls and deep lines.

And last, but certainly not least, of the factors that damage the skin, is poor nutrition. The nutrients we feed our bodies are what they use to produce the skin cells we see in the mirror.

We really are what we eat. When we feed our cells junk food and saturated fat we really can’t expect the body to convert those things to vitamins and minerals needed to fuel the body.

Although a multivitamin is a good adjunct, the body doesn’t metabolize these as well as from a natural source. So here’s another reason to eat your vegetables and fruit, and drink your water!

Why It’s Important to Determine Your Own Skin Type

Perhaps you might care the most to know your skin type so that you are not purchasing products that are not right for your skin, and that could potentially cause negative results in the appearance of your skin.

As it is with everything else, knowing the condition of the different parts of your body is the first step in caring for it. Skin is no different. Knowing your skin type is the beginning of giving your skin the proper treatment to maintain good skin tone and condition.

Your skin type is a general description of how your skin feels and behaves. The most common types used for commercial products are normal, oily, dry and combination skin. Other categories include blemish-prone, sensitive, and sun-damaged skin. Convenient as these skin type categories are in choosing products, it is not exactly the best way to know and understand your skin on a level that will really help it. This is perhaps the reason why, even though the “right” products have been used for your designated skin type, you still experience either dryness, oiliness, acne, and other problems.

Why is this so?

First of all, you have to remember, like any part of your body, you skin is never the same all throughout. It goes through all sorts of conditions depending on several factors, some of which include your genes, your lifestyle, habits, climate, etc. Add to this the fact that the problems you are experiencing may not be simply the result of lack of care. There are cases when skin diseases are the reasons. So, from here on out, it will be good for you to take with a grain of salt what beauty magazines and cosmetic salespeople tell you about your skin type.

It’s about time you go beneath the surface and really know what your skin is about.

First, you want to know the factors that influence your skin type. This can get tricky since almost everything can influence your skin and the condition it’s in. Just looking and feeling your face is not enough to determine your skin type.

To get an effective evaluation of your skin, consider the following: The first set of factors affecting your skin are those within your own body. Hormonal changes brought on by your body’s development influence your skin to a huge extent. For women, the menstrual cycle can cause drastic changes on the skin. The same goes for periods of pregnancy and menopause. Men are also subject to these influences, especially in the puberty stage as hormones causes the body to develop.

Your genes also influence the propensity to acquire a certain skin condition that is characteristic of your parents’ own skin types. However, as their skin is also influenced by different factors, your skin and theirs may not necessarily be the same.

Lifestyles and habits also affect your skin and while these may seem external to your body, the way you conduct daily activities such as diet, exercise, smoking and drinking habits influence your body and therefore your skin as well. Other influences affecting your skin lie outside your body such as weather and climate as well as your skin-care regimen of choice.

The climate of the areas you spend prolonged periods in will influence how your body reacts. Cold climates tend to cause dry skin and flaking, whereas humid areas cause excessive sweating and oil production.

The skin care products you choose also affect your skin condition. Using creams or moisturizers that have too much emollients could cause your skin to be oily whereas strong cleansers and exfoliators could result in dry, sensitive skin.

Know What Condition Your Skin Is In

Now that you know what influences your skin, it is time to know what condition it is in. First of all, don’t evaluate your skin right after you’ve washed your face. This is because your skin is reacting to the water and cleansers you’ve put on it. Wait four to five hours after you’ve washed. This will give your skin time to recover from the cleansing and allow it to resume its “normal” activity.

Also try to do this on a day you have not worn any makeup or put on creams so a more accurate evaluation can be made. Take a piece of facial tissue and press it on different areas of your face. Hold the tissue against the light and if blotches can be seen, then you have oily skin. This is the reason why you should carry out this assessment when you are not wearing makeup or moisturizers since the oil may be caused by these substances.

If the general area of your face appears dry, feels tight and can see patches of skin flakes, then you are dealing with dry skin. On the other hand, if you observe that some areas are both dry and oily then you have combination skin.

Now that you know the degree of oiliness or dryness your skin has right now, you want to validate that there are no signs of any type of skin disease. Are there areas of redness around your nose and cheeks with red bumps and blemishes but aren’t pimples? Do you see fine lines of capillaries on the surface that are sensitive to the touch?

If yes, you may have rosacea. Patches of irritated, dry, red to white scaly and crusty skin around the hairline, nose, eyes and cheeks may be caused by a skin disorder called psoriasis. In both cases it is advisable to be evaluated by going for a consultation with a dermatologist.

With these evaluations, you can be equipped to develop a more effective skin care routine to help maintain your skin’s health. But remember that your skin type won’t remain constant for long, even with the right choice and use of products.

As your own body undergoes development, your skin type will change as well. It is recommended that you perform this simple assessment every 4 to 6 months.

With proper attention and care, you can give you skin the right treatment when and how it needs it – something that is far more effective than taking guesses on what your skin may need with products or fancy treatments at a spa.

Does this cleanser foam or lather?

Yes, our charcoal cleanser does give you a nice foaming/lather. Because it’s sulfate-free it will not lather up as much as those cleansers that include this harmful ingredients.

Sulfates are known to be harmful to your health, and they are used in many products for lathering.

To get nice amount of lather with our facial cleanser, all you need to do is add plenty of water to your face and when applying the charcoal cleanser, and add some more water to your hands to get it to spread and lather.

The deep cleansing massager included with your purchase also helps to generate lather.

What skin types can this cleanser be used for?

Our remarkably clean facial cleanser is great for all skin types.

If you have dry skin the you need a cleanser that helps attract and bind moisture to your skin’s surface for lasting hydration. Organic Calendula Offcinalis (Calendula), which is one of the many great ingredients in our charcoal cleanser, is a known ingredient to help with dry skin by adding moisture and preventing dermatitis.

Olea Europaea (Olive Oil) has numerous benefits to skin such as moisturizing the skin without clogging the pores.

If you tend to have oily skin it’s usually from excess sebum (the oils your skin naturally produces),  which can be tricky when it comes to cleaning as it binds to dirt and makeup creating a sludge-like barrier that sticks to the bottom of your pores.

Over-cleaning your oily skin can disrupt the moisture barrier of your skin, which could cause your skin to create more oil. The goal for oily skin is to remove the dirty oils while protecting your skin’s moisture levels, and with our remarkably clean face cleanser you can do just that!

One of the great ingredients in our cleanser is Organic Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail Plant Extract), which is known to promote a tighter and firmer look, and contains cleansing properties that help minimize the appearance of large pores and tone the look of skin. It is also known to improve skin texture with a moisturizing effect, it’s good for sensitive skin, it’s a natural source of nutrients like calcium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C. And its antioxidant activity protects your skin from environmental stressors.

If you have normal or combination skin then you are one very luck person!

Chances are that certain areas of your face will still have different needs. For example, your T-zone may tend to be a little more oily that the rest of your face, or you may have a slight patch of dryness here and there.

Because our charcoal cleanser is made with many natural and organic ingredients, you will be able to use it on your combination skin and it will add moisture to those parts that need it and prevent oiliness on your T-zone where you most likely are prone to get oily. It will keep your skin looking radiant and balanced.

Is it non-comedogenic? Is it good for oily skin?

Yes, our Remarkably Clean Cleanser is non-comedogenic as it does not contain any ingredients that fall under this category.

Though we recommend that this product is best for use on normal, oily, and sensitive skin types, if you have oily or acne prone skin, as with any product, we suggest you do a small patch test to verify how your skin will respond.

Patch tests can be done on your neck, which should give you a good idea of how the more delicate skin on your face will respond to the product. If it does well on your neck, it likely will respond well on your face.

What is the MSM ingredient for and is it harmful?

MSM can smooth wrinkles and fight acne scars by boosting collagen growth. It also soothes itching, hydrates dry skin, reduces scar tissue, and improves wound healing from cuts and burns.

MSM is rated SAFE by the FDA and EWG ratings and it’s not known to be harmful to your health or skin.

Is it Vegan? Where can I find a list of ingredients?”

Yes, LuxeOrganix Remarkably Clean Purifying Facial Cleanser is vegan.

It is also free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, PEG compounds, petrochemicals, dyes and artificial fragrances.

The Biggest Little Secret in Hair Care

What is CoWashing?

Maximize Your Results

How much should I use?

How often should I CoWash?

Who does CoWashing work for?

Understanding and Maximizing Your Results
With Your New CoWash

Why You Will Feel Beautiful And Amazing WhenYou Use This Product

Not only do you now have a product that is designed to give you beautiful, healthy hair, but you’ll also feel great when you’re using it knowing that it’s “Made in the USA” by a small, woman-owned family business; it’s made with the highest quality ingredients, and it is not tested on animals. So when you use LuxeOrganix, you’re not just benefiting yourself, but you are also positively impacting U.S. companies, jobs and animals!

The Biggest Little Secret in Hair Care

Everyone has heard that we’re “not supposed to wash our hair everyday because it’s too hard on our hair and strips our scalp & hair of good oils.” But if you’re like most active women, what do you do after the gym? Or after a long day of work? Not wash because your stylist said it’s bad to wash your hair too often?

Our Solution... *Co-Washing...

*But not in the way that many people have heard or been told it’s supposed to be done.

More on this in a moment, but first, if this is your initial exposure to co-washing, let me help you get familiar with it….

“What is Co-W`ashing?”

Simply put, co-washing is short for “conditioner-only washing.” It means skipping shampoo and relying solely on conditioner, whether you’re a daily or a weekly washer. The result is something between squeaky-clean and second-day hair—that is, smoother, softer, and easier to manage. (realsimple.com)

Understanding and Maximizing your Results with your New CoWash Cleansing Conditioner

Co-Washing responds to the age-old advice from hair stylists that we need to give our hair “days off” from washing so that you don’t strip your scalp and hair of natural, healthy oils. It’s a simple way to stretch out your shampoo days by instead using a formulated cleansing conditioner, sometimes referred to as “co-wash” or “no-poo” (no shampoo).

If you already have stressed hair from chemical treatments or hormone imbalance, co-washing can really help your hair in your recovery and rebuilding process. But beyond that, it’s an ingenious treatment for so much more, such as reducing frizz, smoothing curls, softening hair and making styling more manageable, to name just a few.

Here’s just one of the reasons we’re loving cowashing for color-treated, naturally curly, frizzy, fine hair…. When you wash in the morning with our LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, and then go to the gym later in the day, if you need to do your hair again that day (if you’re going out, for instance), you will shower and co-wash your hair instead of using the shampoo again.

Some customers simply skip the shampoo step, and instead apply LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner and massage it really well into my hair and scalp (as you would normally do with a shampoo). Then you can use a wide tooth comb to spread it through your hair, which helps detangle and spread the product evenly. Then after several minutes, rinse and style as usual.

It’s nice because it also saves you time in the shower not having to both shampoo and condition. To get natural, beach waves, squeeze your hair with a towel (being careful not to rub your hair, which can cause frizz), scrunch in a small amount of LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Styling Cream, and then allow your hair to air dry, occasionally scrunching during and after it dries to enhance the waves. (Be sure to have a look below at our “ProfessionalWashingTechniques” for best tips on how to co-wash with LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner.)

Beyond Co-Washing; How Others Are Using LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner

As if there aren't enough reasons aready to love co-washing and our refreshing Mint CoWash Cleansing Conditioner...

Professional Washing Techniques

You’ll find that LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner works best after washing with our Sulfate Free Shampoo and Conditioner Sets such as our Invigorate Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner and Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s the perfect pairing to gently cleanse your hair, giving it the ability to grow healthy, nourished locks.

If you are using the CoWash Cleansing Conditioner for the purpose of co-washing, it’s important that before you apply the product that you rinse your hair thoroughly and use your fingertips to massage and scrub your scalp to get extra sediment out and remove any dead skin cells. Then as you apply the CoWash Cleansing Conditioner, work from the roots outward, and scrub the entire scalp vigorously with your fingertips for a few minutes.

Because this product does not contain sulfates (which lather and strip the hair of sediment and your good oils), it will require a little more scrubbing than a traditional, sulfate-based shampoo. If necessary, add a splash of water to help spread the product evenly. (Do not do this if your hair is overly dry and is needing extra moisturizing.) Using a comb can also be helpful to spread the conditioner down to the ends of your hair.

You may find it beneficial to give the gentle cleansing agents in the CoWash Cleansing Conditioner extra time to soak longer than you would when washing with a normal shampoo. So after you scrub and comb through it, perhaps leave it to set while you finish showering (5-10 minutes), and then rinse at the end of your shower.

Something else to keep in mind is that if you use styling products, you’re going to have more build up than what you would by just taking a day or two off from washing. This of course will require a cleansing conditioner (that is not like shampoo) to have to work harder, which means being sure you’re rinsing and scrubbing well (like a professional stylist does when shampooing your hair). As mentioned before, you may find that leaving the conditioner to soak, before rinsing, gives the cleansing agents a chance to work at removing the sediment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some questions or requests we’ve received from our customers, to help you get the best results using your LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner.

How much should I use?

The Recommended Amount Of Co-Washing Varies From One Person To The Next!

Of course we all know that length of hair can make a difference when it comes to how much product you should use and how often you should use it; however, hair type will make an impact as well.

For example, if your hair is longer or thicker, or has build-up from styling products or several days without washing, you may need to increase the amount you use.

In some cases, co-washing twice, to remove heavy build-up, may be necessary. (Please be sure to read our “Professional Washing Techniques” below.)

Typically a generous dollop (about the size of half of a golf ball) is right for most people. You’ll know that you have enough product in your hair when you’re able to easily scrub it into your roots and massage it down to your ends.

How Often Should I Co-Wash?

Some women co-wash to the point that they only clarify with a shampoo once a week, and some once a month. In my case, I’m still stretching out my “in-between” days to see what my hair likes best. I tend to wash twice a week with our Sulfate-Free Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, and then other days I either “take off” or I co-wash with LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner.

IMPORTANT: Unlike some companies who advise customers that they can abandon shampooing all together, this is not our stance, nor do we recommend it. Our CoWash Cleansing Conditioner is an “In-Between Shampoo Alternative,” which means that we advise clarifying with a shampoo occasionally to remove build-up. If build-up becomes out of hand, it can cause itchy, flaky scalp, or in extreme cases, can lead to hair loss. Hair appearance can also become negatively affected by excessive build-up.

Though some with extremely dry hair can nearly eliminate shampoo from their routine, depending on your hair type, as well as the climate, you can co-wash as often as you like. However, if your hair is feeling oily or spongy, this means you’re overdoing it and need to co-wash less frequently.

In most cases, you’ll want to plan to clarify weekly or more often (depending on your needs) with a sulfate-free shampoo, as your hair and scalp may still need a shampoo to adequately cleanse.

Not All Conditioners Are Good For Using As A Co-Wash.

LuxeOrganix Argan Oil Conditioner, for example, is not meant to be used as a co-wash because it wasn’t designed that way. If not formulated properly, using a conditioner for the purpose of co-washing will lead to build-up, which as just mentioned, can lead to irritated scalp, residue on your hair, and even hair loss over time. So it’s very important that when you co-wash you are using a conditioner that is designated as a “cleansing conditioner” or “co-wash”.

You’ll also want to make sure that it is free of harsh, problem-causing ingredients, such as phthalates, parabens, sulfates, alcohol or sodium chloride. (Of course, none of these are included in LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner.)

So who does Co-Washing work for?

LuxeOrganix CoWash Cleansing Conditioner is great for all hair types. However, for those with dermatitis or if your hair is prone to being oily after just one day, it may not be the right for you. It’s also been suggested that if you have fine hair, that co-washing might weigh it down.

(On the contrary, many of our customers have fine, naturally curly/wavy hair, and their hair has responded great to co-washing and doesn’t get weighed down.)

Of course, you know that we stand behind you as our customer and our products, so if you try it and it’s not right, just let us know so we can help you to achieve the result you’re looking for.
