]]>

One question we get asked a lot is about the correct order of your skin care routine. And we get it: Figuring out the right order of your products when the difference between serum and moisturizer can make your head spin can be a challenge.

And as much as we wish we could say that the order of your skincare products does not matter… it does.

In fact, it’s important.

Why?

Well, let’s start with a quick anatomy lesson…

Your skin is made of layers of cells, each specialized in what they do. Skin cells are produced at the innermost layer. They rise to the surface (the outermost layer) and some specialize as they do. Skin cells do not last forever. They live for about two or three weeks. When they die, they are replaced by younger cells. This process causes the dead cells to be pushed to the surface of your skin where they can fall off.

You lose 30,000 – 40,000 dead skin cells each minute. (That’s about 50 million cells per day!)

If these cells do not fall off of the top layer of skin, it can cause problems like dull flakey skin, acne, dry patches, and wrinkles. Clogged pores may also prevent some of your skincare products from actually helping your skin.

Your Products Are Specific

Each type of product, from your cleanser to your moisturizer, is formulated differently. You probably notice this with the thickness of the product, known as viscosity. Some products are much thicker, right?

This is because your products are created to penetrate your skin, and each other, differently. Some products are made to go deep into the layers of the skin, and others are meant to be closer to the surface.

The level of penetration largely depends on what the product is supposed to do. For example, products that block the sun, like sunscreen, remain close to the surface of your skin, while products that brighten the color of your skin are intended to sink deeper into your skin. This is why some products are made to be thick, and others to be looser.

Thicker, more viscose products will be stopped closer to the top layer of your skin. That topmost layer acts as your skin’s primary barrier. Not much gets in to the layers below it. That sunscreen, for example… It won’t make it much deeper.

But serum is typically less viscose than sunscreen, so it can penetrate deeper into your skin. If you apply your sunscreen first, however, you will block any other product from sinking into your skin. A product with less viscosity cannot penetrate easily a product with a higher viscosity.

The order you use products really does have an impact.

What’s the correct order for using your products?

The basic rule of thumb is to apply the lightest viscosity products first and the heaviest last. Remember, thinner products cannot penetrate thicker products.

In general, you do not need an eight-step (or even a six-step) skincare routine. Most people do better with fewer products, so keep it simple: cleanser, serum, eye cream, moisturizer.

That’s it. Four simple products. Seriously. This works for everyone.

First

First, and this is more important than knowing your way to work (we all have Google Maps, right?) — Remove your makeup and wash your face before you use any other products.

For ingredients to absorb properly, you need clean skin. (That dirt you don’t see might be enough to keep your moisturizer from penetrating!)

Which means. if you want to do things right, use a proper cleanser.

In the Morning

Wash your face with a good cleanser, like our Remarkably Clean Purifying Facial Cleanser. It will help clean your skin and wake it up for your daily routine. The activated bamboo charcoal helps draw out any impurities that are lurking in your pores. A good cleanser is always the perfect start to your skincare.

Makeup wipes might seem like a fast solution, especially if you’re at the gym, but they leave behind a layer of residue that can irritate your skin. If you’re using these before you put your makeup on, you’re just adding makeup to sweat, dirt, and residue. Yuck. Take a moment and use a good cleanser.

At Night

Cleaning your skin at night is even more important than in the morning! A full day’s worth of grime and pollutions (and we’re not even talking about makeup) from everything you did is sitting on and in your pores. You’ve got to clean this out, especially before bed. Nighttime is when your skin works to produce more skin cells, and make you look your best. It cannot do its best when it’s burdened down with dirt, germs, and grime.

Bonus!

Remember those dead cells? You can help them leave your skin surface sooner (and keep your complexion clear) if you use an exfoliator a few times each week. Make it part of your nighttime routine and you’ll be amazed at the skin you wake up with! Our ReNew Exfoliating Face Mask Polishing Scrub is perfect for this. It contains AHA glycolic acid, bamboo, and walnut for the ideal exfoliating blend of small and large grit to instantly polish away dull, dry skin, blemishes, and dead skin cells.

Daily use of an exfoliator, for most people, is too much. But two or three times a week is perfect. Use it after your cleanser and before you apply anything else.

Second

Serum, we love you! This is the one product you likely never use because you don’t know you need it. Serums are extremely concentrated nutrients, hydrating ingredients, and antioxidants that power up your skin’s health almost as soon as you use it. Honestly, these silky little gems are the heavy lifters of any skincare routine. Although serums are optional, they are amazing for boosting your overall skin health.

In the Morning

A vitamin C serum, like our Kakadu Vitamin C Brightening Serum, actually protects your skin from inflammation and damage caused by the environment. Things like sunshine, wind, and pollution wreak havoc on your skin. The vitamin C will help brighten your skin and lighten dark spots over time. It’s really the MVP of skincare.

At Night

A serum filled with hyaluronic acid is great for nighttime use. Hyaluronic acid actually pulls water from the air into your skin to plump it up and keep it hydrated. The Kakadu serum is loaded with hyaluronic acid and organic Reishi mushrooms. This power-duo holds moisture, reduces inflammation, puffiness, wrinkles & free radical damage, while also promoting cell regeneration. Just because you’re asleep doesn’t mean your skin is! It works overtime to repair damage and give you a beautiful glow.

Third

Use an eye cream. Consider using one even if you don’t have dark circles, fine lines, or wrinkles… An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Eye creams tend to be lighter and thinner than face moisturizers, so make sure to apply them before you use your moisturizer. It’s crazy how much this all makes sense now, isn’t it?

In the Morning

If you wake up with puffy eyes, our Brilliant Eyes eye cream can help! It’s made with Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, and Witch Hazel – all of which help reduce swelling, puffiness, fine lines, and under-eye bags. This mighty formula uses other natural ingredients, like eyebright, to reduce discoloration under your eyes and on your lids.

At Night

Most people think their night eye cream has to be super thick and include some sort of retinol to help with fine lines. The reality is that your eye area is delicate, so you need to be gentle, both with your technique and your products. Brilliant Eyes is a gentle, soothing, lightweight moisturizer that delivers an amazing number of nutrients. It helps keep your eye area tight and bright for a more youthful appearance.

Fourth

This is your last step, before using any makeup!

Moisturize.

Everyone needs to use a moisturizer. Always. Twice a day. No matter what. Even if your skin is oily or struggles with breakouts.

Moisturizer is the only thing that keeps your skin’s natural barrier—which is the very thing responsible for making your skin look good—healthy and happy. Moisturizers hydrate your skin and also help lock in all of the products that lie beneath it.

In the Morning

A lightweight moisturizer, like our Vitamin C Moisturizer, will keep your skin hydrated without feeling heavy or greasy. For an added boost, let it sink in for a full five minutes before applying your makeup.

At Night

Your skin is in full repair mode at night. It’s working extra hard to fix any damage and boost skin cell regeneration. Your nighttime moisturizer should be filled with all the things your body naturally produces and can use more of, like peptides, lipids, and proteins. You can find all of this (and more!) in our Vitamin C Moisturizer.

One Last Thought

We mentioned sunscreen earlier, and it’s worth a bit more detail… Sunscreen isn’t trying to penetrate your skin—it’s designed to sit on top and protect your face from UV rays.

Medical and skin care professionals say that you need to use sunscreen daily. If It’s part of your daily routine, great! Use it after your moisturizer and before your makeup for optimal benefits.

And that’s it!

We’re all aware that too much sun can cause a painful sunburn, but many believe that’s the extent of sun damage.

It’s not.

Brown spots, wrinkles, broken capillaries, loss of skin tone (decreased elasticity), rough, uneven skin texture, and redness or blotchiness are all the result of too much UV exposure.

When Too Much Sun Causes Problems

It’s important to note that ALL skin types — white, olive, brown, black, and everything in between — all skin burns when overexposed to UV rays.

Damage to your skin occurs when ultraviolet (UV) light penetrates unprotected skin, causing changes to your inner layers of skin. Dermatologists refer to this damage as photoaging, photodamage, solar damage, or sun damage.

Because this UV damage happens in the deeper layers of your skin—the dermis—it can take years before it becomes visible.

With sun damage being largely invisible for a long time, we continue to romp in the sun and forget about protecting ourselves from it. Years of damage can build up and cause scaly and rough patches of skin, skin cancer, or even changes to your DNA.

Have you ever seen older, very tanned people with skin like leather?

That’s extreme sun damage. It doesn’t happen overnight, it accumulates…

Can You Reverse Sun Damage?

No matter how many years of sun your skin has been subjected to, it’s not too late to start reversing the damage.

You may not be able to reverse all signs of sun damage, but you can definitely improve it.

How?

We’re glad you asked!

Dermatologists recommend retinol as one of the top solutions for sun-damaged skin.

Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A. It works by encouraging cell turnover and increasing collagen production, both of which help fight almost all signs of sun damage. Retinol can even out pigmentation issues and fade brown spots.

The problem with retinol is that it can dry out your skin and irritate sensitive skin.

Bakuchiol, a plant-based retinol alternative may be a better solution.

This natural ingredient doesn’t dry out or irritate skin like retinol, so it’s safe to use for those with sensitive skin (and it’s even encouraged by dermatologists).

Like retinol, bakuchiol helps the skin turn over quicker and boosts collagen production resulting in plumper, brighter skin, reduced fine lines, faded discolorations, and fewer wrinkles.

That’s why we use this amazing plant-powered miracle worker in LuxeOrganix Kakadu Vitamin C Brightening Serum and our Brilliant Eyes Daily Eye Cream.

Microdermabrasion is recommended for renewing skin tone and texture.

Microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, acne scarring, melasma, and other skin-related issues.

The process sprays fine particles of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate onto your skin to blast away the topmost layers. Blasted layers are quickly suctioned up leaving soft, smooth, clear skin.

You can accomplish similar results by adding exfoliation to your skincare routine once or twice each week.

Exfoliation removes the top layers of dry, dead skin at home, without needing any expensive machinery.

LuxeOrganix ReNew Exfoliating Face Mask Polishing Scrub uses fine grit from walnut and bamboo plus glycolic acid, to gently reveal your younger skin. It’s also loaded with botanicals like Turmeric and Australian Kakadu Plum to brighten and balance your skin, without stripping moisture and essential oils.

Moisturizing is the key to younger skin.

Once your younger skin begins to appear, you need to keep it moisturized. These products help skin absorb and retain moisture, which softens the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines. Moisture also helps your skin maintain its health, which gives your body a strong barrier against environmental pollution, germs, and dirt.

Start by using a moisturizer specifically created for your eye area. This area tends to show age and sun damage easily, in the form of crow’s feet, fine lines, puffiness, and discoloration.

LuxeOrganix Brilliant Eyes Daily Eye Cream gently firms, hydrates, and tightens the delicate skin around your eyes. It’s packed with natural anti-aging ingredients that don’t strip, dry, or leave any build-up. Its botanical beauty enhancers include Aloe Vera, Witch Hazel, and Sea Fennel — all of which leave your eye area smooth, soft, and brighter. Combined with Matrixyl 3000, this formulation will help you turn back the hands of time (and sun damage) on your peepers.

For your face, neck, and decollete, LuxeOrganix Vitamin C Moisturizer is a daily lotion that hydrates, nourishes, and firms sagging skin. Vitamins C, B5, and E work together with Green Tea, Aloe Vera, Gotu Kola, Sunflower, and Jojoba oils to reinvigorate parched skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, and skin blotches.

It’s loaded with penetrating antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients that stimulate new cell growth, promote skin elasticity, and lock in long-lasting essential moisture to keep your skin soft and smooth, and protected from harsh environments and climate trauma.

Protect Your Skin

Remember that leathery-skinned person? You don’t have to look like that!

Take the time to heal your skin and reverse any damage you have now. Don’t forget to cover up your new skin — protect it with sunscreen and a hat and you’ll keep it younger-looking well into your golden years.

One of the trendiest natural ingredients in skincare is a gritty, dark black powder. It’s not a secret ingredient… it’s charcoal.

Would you put it on your face?

Before you run out to your BBQ and grab a briquette, hang on while we explain!

People have been using charcoal for health and beauty for thousands of years. It’s been used as a medicine, and to filter air, soil, and water.

What is it?

Charcoal is carbon created as a result of burning wood, or another substance, and it has an amazing ability. It can adsorb.

Not absorb, which is the ability to take up something, but adsorb with a “d” – which is the ability to take up AND HOLD onto something. Materials that are adsorbed by the charcoal stick to the surface of the charcoal.

In skincare, the magic ingredient is activated bamboo charcoal, which is burned bamboo.

Because bamboo is more porous than wood, its charcoal is able to adsorb more than that of wood.

Activated bamboo charcoal, which is the trendy type of charcoal we’re talking about today, is charcoal with superpowers.

Activated charcoal has been injected with oxygen to make it even more porous.

While a single gram (roughly equal to the weight of one paper clip) of bamboo charcoal has as much as 717.6 square yards of surface area, a single gram of activated bamboo charcoal has more than 1,425 square yards of surface area.

…That’s more than SEVEN football fields of surface area from less than a teaspoon of activated bamboo charcoal. Think of all of the adsorbing that could happen on seven football fields!

So what does this have to do with skin care?

…and why do you want to put it on your face?

Activated bamboo charcoal has the power to bind small, pesky materials that get into your pores and cause buildup.

It works sort of like a magnet. It draws these substances to it and then keeps them there. So, using it in your skincare products, it pulls the impurities out of your pores and traps them on the charcoal keeping them there until you rinse it off of your skin.

Bye-Bye impurities! And dirt, and makeup, and sweat, and bacteria, and whatever else is hiding in your pores.

This is why we use it in our Remarkably Clean Purifying Face Cleanser. It’s not just about the adsorbing… Activated bamboo charcoal brings a lot of other benefits to the table.

For instance, deep cleaning the impurities from your pores helps to shrink them, and because they’re smaller, your skin will appear tighter.

Firmer skin? Yes, please!

Activated bamboo charcoal is also 100% natural, so you don’t need to worry about any harmful additives or chemicals being used to work this magic.

Nothing for your skin to react to? Bonus!

Who doesn’t want that?

Wait! There’s more…

Activated bamboo charcoal is able to adsorb toxins, impurities, and free radicals, making it a really potent cleanser. Because activated bamboo charcoal also has anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties, your skin will not just be cleaner, it will also be healthier.

This wonder powder also gently exfoliates the skin with a very fine grit, which can help rid your skin of any dead cells that can block pores. Removing dead cells brightens your skin and evens out your skin tone, too.

Activated bamboo charcoal can:

 • Gently exfoliate without stripping your natural oils.
 • Deep cleanse your pores.
 • Calm acne and remove blackheads.
 • Detoxify and purify your skin.
 • Shrink your pores because it’s eliminating the gunk inside of them, and tighten your skin because it’s shrinking the pores.

In Real Life

IRL, this means your skin will look younger, brighter, healthier, and firmer. Just because we decided to use activated bamboo charcoal in our facial cleanser.

Here’s to clean skin!

Is Maskne Real? https://luxeorganix.com/is-maskne-real/ Thu, 24 Mar 2022 10:00:24 +0000 https://luxeorganix.com/?p=48203 The post Is Maskne Real? appeared first on LuxeOrganix.

]]>

Maskne – a term born of the pandemic to describe adult acne on the part of your face covered by a mask – gets a lot of media hype. But is it really a thing?

While everyone jokes about having it, is it just a hip term used to describe acne-prone skin?

Actually, no…

Maskne is real.

What is Maskne?

Simply put, maskne is acne and irritation caused by wearing a facial mask. It can affect anyone, of any age, and both men and women. Women may see it more often than men because they also frequently wear makeup beneath the mask.

When you wear a mask, breathing or talking traps hot air close to your skin.

This trapped air creates a humid environment perfect for yeast, bacteria, and other flora, such as demodex (types of skin mites that naturally live on your skin), to grow.

This bacterial imbalance, combined with friction from your mask, can promote acne, dermatitis, itchy or cracked dry skin, and rosacea flare-ups.

And while most of the country is unmasking, we’re not out of the woods with maskne just yet.

Chances are that you are probably going to continue to need to use a mask periodically, such as if virus surges hit, or when using public transportation like airplanes, rideshare, busses, and trains. Medical professionals and others who wear masks at work are also prone to maskne.

So how do you wear a mask and still have clear, radiant skin?

The best solution for radiant skin is a multi-step approach.

Changing your mask frequently can help reduce irritation, especially after sweating or exercising. If you’re using fabric masks, wash and dry them thoroughly after every use.

The type of mask you use may also play a role in maskne.

Disposable masks are a good alternative to fabric. Especially if your skin is sensitive, a disposable mask can be a key part of your mask-wearing skin care. Using fabric masks for more than a day can irritate your skin and create an environment for acne to form and spread.

Why? Because the yeast, bacteria, and germs continue to live in your mask. With disposable masks, you will not be tempted to keep wearing a dirty mask. Plus they are typically made of a lighter weight than fabric masks, so they will not trap as much moisture so close to your skin.

Avoiding (or surviving) maskne is not only about the type of mask you wear. A regular routine of cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing your face will also help control it.

A Good Skin Care Routine

A regular routine of cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing your face will also help control it.

Cleanse

Every good skin care routine starts by cleaning your skin. The LuxeOrganix Remarkably Clean Purifying Facial Cleanser is your best start. Made with activated bamboo charcoal, it’s designed to pull the impurities lurking deep in your pores out so that bacteria and yeast that were triggered to grow beneath your mask cannot continue to thrive. It’s loaded with natural ingredients that also help minimize your pores. Use it twice a day to keep your skin clean.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is important because it helps remove the dead layers of cells on the surface of your skin to keep your pores open. (Clogged pores become pimples with yeast and bacteria around.) Our ReNew Exfoliating Face Mask Polishing Scrub will gently do this, and a lot more… It contains tamanu oil, which has antibacterial properties and helps your skin to heal, as well as Kakadu plum and turmeric to help fade any discoloration and reduce inflammation. Using this scrub once or twice per week as an exfoliant, and letting it sit on your skin for 5 minutes or longer as a facial mask should help eliminate and heal maskne.

Soothe

Many of our customers report that our LuxeOrganix Kakadu Vitamin C Serum is really helpful at soothing irritated skin and healing the acne caused by mask-wearing. We’ve put vitamin E in this serum, which helps heal and minimize acne scarring. The Kakadu plum vitamin C also helps to fade any discoloration caused by acne and gives you a more even skin tone. This serum also hydrates your skin, which is important. Hydrated skin has a strong outer barrier, which helps keep it healthy and works hard at keeping dirt, grime, and bacteria out.

Moisturize

The last step in any good skin care routine is moisturizing. This is important: Do not skip your moisturizing step! You might be tempted to think a moisturizer will make maskne (or any acne) worse, but it’s actually the opposite. Moisturizing can soothe and help protect your skin while it heals. It also offers a layer of protection from the humidity while wearing a mask. Plus, overly dry skin will cause an over-production of your skin’s natural oils as it attempts to heal. Overproduction of your natural oils can lead to acne… and an endless cycle of over dry > over oily > acne…

Don’t skip your moisturizer!

You can do it!

You can control maskne. A solid skin care routine will clean your skin, exfoliate dead cells to keep your pores open, and moisturize to heal it. This, plus a constant supply of good, clean masks will help eliminate the red, irritated, and sometimes cystic acne that constant mask-wearing causes.

You can do it!

If you want to read more, we’ve written a lot about skin care and explain the best way to cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize in another blog post. Click here to read it now.

5 Common Winter Skin Issues https://luxeorganix.com/5-common-winter-skin-issues/ Thu, 20 Jan 2022 18:05:28 +0000 https://luxeorganix.com/?p=44947 The post 5 Common Winter Skin Issues appeared first on LuxeOrganix.

]]>
It’s true – winter is not kind to your skin. Sub-zero temperatures, wind, and dry air can make your skin dry, tight, cracked, and flaky.

Luckily, you can take control of the situation. With a little effort, you can have soft, smooth, beautiful skin… Even in the dead of winter! Read on as we discuss the solutions for five of the most common winter skin issues.

#1 Dry Skin

Cold, windy, dry air depletes your skin of its natural moisture, drying it out. When the air is consistently cold and lacking humidity, the water in your skin evaporates quickly, giving you that dry, tight, leather feeling.

Unfortunately, doubling down on your moisturizer isn’t enough.

The solution: Stay hydrated.

It may sound like a no-brainer but moisturizing from the inside is the best way to combat dry skin. Nourish your body with healthy foods and beverages, including a lot of water. A healthy diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like fish and flaxseed oil, can help manage hydration and reduce premature aging of your skin. (It also helps alleviate depression, which is more common in the winter when there’s less sun. Bonus!)

Of course, a good skincare routine that includes cleansing, exfoliating a few times per week, and a winter-friendly moisturizer will help, too.

For your face, serum. Like our Kakadu Skin Brightening Serum, is essential in the winter. Serum penetrates and pulls moisture deep into your skin’s inner layers and helps keep it there. Use it after cleansing and before moisturizing,

#2 Flaky Skin

Excessive dryness often leads to flaky or even cracked skin. Ouch! Moisturizers are helpful but won’t completely alleviate the problem.

The solution: Exfoliate.

Exfoliate your skin regularly. You may need to increase how often you do this in the winter. A few times per week should help.

Exfoliation removes the damaged and dead top layers of skin and helps new skin cells push their way to the top (visible) layer. This new skin looks amazing – glow-y, fresh, plump. These are the cells you want to be showing.

Our ReNew Exfoliating Face Mask Polishing Scrub is not just for your face! Use it where your skin is dry, and let it sit on your skin for 5 minutes or so before rinsing it off. Your hands, feet, elbows, arms, and your face will appreciate the extra care, and the hydrating ingredients in the scrub will definitely take care of them.

#3 Chapped Lips

Lips need just as much moisture as the rest of your body. Wearing thick matte or long-lasting lipstick can also leave your lips dry or cracked.

During the colder months, you tend to lick your lips more frequently because they are dry. It may feel like a good solution at the moment, but saliva quickly evaporates and dries out your lips.

The solution: Use lip ointment or lip butter.

Lip ointments and lip butters that are rich in vitamin A or E help hydrate and heal chapped, cracked lips. Use them throughout the day and at night. These lip treatments can be used under your lipstick. You can also use a moisturizing lip gloss that goes over your color to combat the dry air.

During the winter, you might also want to avoid using plumping lip glosses, as they contain irritants that can further dry your lips.

#4 Irritation and Redness

Red or flushed hands, cheeks, chest, nose, ears… You’ve seen or experienced this in the winter. As with extreme heat in the summer, harsh winter conditions can result in irritation and redness of your skin. If you’re not careful, this can last through the entire winter.

The solution: Be faithful to your skincare routine.

It’s easy to become complacent or even lazy when it comes to taking care of your skin, especially when you’re locked inside and not spending a lot of time mingling with others. Don’t be that person. Stay on top of your daily regimen. Use a cleanser like our Purifying Facial Cleanser, to help remove irritants, followed with a serum, and finish with a moisturizer like our Vitamin C Moisturizer.

In the winter, especially, never shortcut or skip your routine. Your skin really needs the attention and care of a solid routine with quality, healing products.

For your body, you may need to use a more gentle cleanser in the winter. Some soaps and body washes (especially those made with sulfates) actually increase your skin’s dryness, or cause irritation when your skin is already dry, like it can be from the weather. Switching to a more gentle cleanser, like our Organic Psoriasis Shampoo + Body Wash, can help keep your skin healthy by not causing additional irritation. Our Organic Psoriasis Shampoo + Body Wash is not just for those dealing with Psoriasis. It’s for anyone with sensitive skin! The gentle, nourishing ingredients help restore your skin to its naturally healthy state.

#5 UV Damage

It’s true! The sun’s rays can damage your skin even when it’s -20° outside. If you’re lucky enough to live where it snows, snow can reflect up to 80 percent of the sun’s rays right back up at you, so regular sunscreen use in the winter is crucial to decreasing your UV exposure.

The solution: You know this one – Sunscreen!

vitamin C infusion daily facial moisturizer
Applying sunscreen is crucial to protect your skin in the winter, even when it’s cold or cloudy. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher on exposed areas of your body. Don’t forget your lips and ears!

Eventually, Winter Ends

Spring will be here soon enough, but until then, take care of your skin. That way, when springtime rolls around, you’re looking younger and healthier because of your skin.

Rosehip oil, extracted from the rosa canina (or dog rose) plant soared in popularity when Victoria Secret model Miranda Kerr said she swears by it.

Kate Middleton is also reportedly a fan.

Why are celebrities so in love with this oil?

why olive oil is good for your skin

Rosehip oil is not the same as rose oil, which is extracted from rose petals. Rosehip oil is actually pressed from the fruit and seed of the plant. Hundreds of years ago, rosehip oil was used for its beneficial healing effects. It was commonly applied to wounds because it helps skin to regenerate and it reduces scarring, but it was also used to treat stomach weakness and muscle cramps.

Ancient Egyptians, Mayans, and Greeks have used Rosehip oil. In fact, its use is recorded as far back as 2600 BC. More recently, it’s made its way into modern skincare products, including ours!

It’s Fall… The air is cooler, leaves are changing colors, students are back to school, football games dominate the airwaves, and pumpkin spice is everywhere!

It’s a great time to take a moment and breathe in the new season. It’s also a good time to fall back into a routine skin care program for your best skin ever. If you’ve spent the summer in the sun, your skin will thank you.

While you cannot turn back the hands of time, a finely tuned skin care regimen will help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and sun damage. Fewer of these is almost like being 29 again.

A good skin care routine also helps to manage any minor skin concerns, such as dryness or oiliness, when you have a regular approach and use quality products.

If you’re dealing with specific skin conditions, like psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, or acne, routine skin care is not optional and may take a bit more thought. Your skin may be more sensitive to some ingredients, and it may need specific ingredients to help treat your condition. Finding a skin care routine that works for you can lead you to a clear complexion with less worry and stress over your condition.

Keep in mind that everyone’s routine is personal—what works for your friends or family or people you follow on Tik-Tok may not be best for you.

Start with The Basics

Skin care doesn’t have to be complicated to be great. The three basic steps of a skin-care routine are cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing.

Following a good routine, regularly, can pay off in a short timeframe, with most people seeing a visible difference in their skin in just a few weeks.

Let’s break these down…

Cleansing

Cleansing removes dirt, makeup, and other debris that may accumulate on your skin as you run around your busy day. A good cleanser breaks this dirt and grime down and removes it from your skin.

You should clean your skin every morning and night.

LuxeOrganix Remarkably Clean Purifying Facial Cleanser is a detoxifying activated-bamboo charcoal cleanser. It soothes your skin from irritation and redness with a gentle combination of enriched natural non-clogging oils that work as an antioxidant remedy to clean, protect and soften your skin. This cleanser is perfect for all ages and skin types.

When used with a deep cleansing facial massager (a “scrubby”), this aloe-based organic face wash unclogs pores and easily washes away makeup, dirt, and debris for remarkably clean, fresh, and brighter skin.

Exfoliating

Exfoliation removes the oldest dead skin cells from your skin’s surface. Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells to clear the way for new cells about every 30 days. Sometimes, though, these cells don’t completely shed. This makes your skin look dull and dry, and can clog your pores, leading to acne breakouts.

When done long-term, exfoliation can increase collagen production. Collagen is naturally depleted as we age, so having more of it is key to glowing, vibrant skin. Collagen plumps the skin, and promotes skin elasticity, which minimizes the appearance of fine lines and reduces skin sagging as you age.

Exfoliation should occur after cleansing. It is not a daily step for most people. Exfoliating 1-3 times per week keeps your skin looking fresh.

There are three ways to exfoliate: manually using a granular substance (“grit”), chemically with acids, or with a tool like a laser or dermabrasion.

LuxeOrganix ReNew Exfoliating Face Scrub Polishing Mask uses AHA glycolic acid along with bamboo and walnut grit to create the ideal exfoliating blend that instantly polishes away dull, dry skin, blemishes, and dead skin cells. ReNew packs a powerful 1-2 punch with Turmeric and Australian Kakadu Plum to brighten and balance your skin, without stripping moisture and essential oils.

You can also leave this product on your face after using it as a scrub, to let the nurturing, brightening, tightening, and hydrating face mask take effect. The natural and organic ingredients in this scrub/facemask combat blemishes and sun damage while helping to fade acne scarring.

Moisturizing

Moisturizing your face helps to protect your skin’s barrier. It can be an effective block, keeping some of the daily dirt and grime from getting deep into your pores. Moisturizers also help reduce the development of dryness or revive skin that is already dry. Excessive and prolonged dryness speeds the aging process of your skin and often appears as fine lines and wrinkles.

You should alwyas moisturize after cleansing your face.

This is important: Even if you are prone to acne breakouts or oiliness, DO NOT SKIP MOISTURIZING.

You’re probably battling a never-ending go-around of using harsh cleaners, which dry your skin out too much, and pore-clogging moisturizers, which block your pores and contribute to your acne. Or you’re skipping moisturizer all together, which causes your skin to over-produce its natural oils in an attempt to hydrate and protect itself.

Get off the crazy cycle of too dry – too much oil – clogged skin.

Moisturizing regularly may actually help to decrease your skin’s oil production and keep it at normal levels. A more gentle cleanser that won’t strip these oils, followed by a light moisturizer that can deeply penetrate your skin should help you clear up and control acne breakouts.

Our Kakadu Vitamin C Brightening Serum with Hyaluronic Acid is an anti-aging skin brightener that hydrates your skin.

Infused with the mega-hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and organic Reishi, this serum attracts and holds moisture, reduces inflammation, puffiness, wrinkles & free radical damage, while also promoting cell regeneration. Bonus, right?

It also contains Kakadu Plum extract, which has 55 times more Vitamin C than an orange, to firm up your skin and promote the fading of brown sun spots & acne scars.

LuxeOrganix Kakadu Vitamin C Skin Brightening Serum
vitamin C infusion daily facial moisturizer

Our Vitamin C Infusion Daily Face Moisturizer is designed to minimize your wrinkles, diminish dark spots, tighten, and moisturize your skin. This Vitamin C moisturizer contains 15 natural and organic anti-aging ingredients for healthy, evenly toned, youthful-looking skin. Known to smooth wrinkles, this natural moisturizer is ideal for all skin types, including dry or mature skin. It’s lightweight, easy to apply, and penetrates quickly. It’s the perfect Vitamin C boost that hydrates skin without feeling heavy or greasy.

Summary

So, to recap the three basic steps of a solid skin-care routine: cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize.

If you’re diligent about caring for your skin, you should see something beautiful in a short period of time. For most people, two weeks of regular care shows such a change that it becomes a permanent pat of the day.

Fall into your good skin! You won’t regret it.

Marigolds… The Flower With Skin Care Power https://luxeorganix.com/marigolds-the-flower-with-skin-care-power/ Fri, 07 May 2021 14:07:24 +0000 https://luxeorganix.com/?p=14138 The post Marigolds… The Flower With Skin Care Power appeared first on LuxeOrganix.

You’ve probably seen these sunny flowers everywhere. A native plant of Mexico, these yellow, gold, and orange blooms are popular summer flowers and grow almost anywhere, even in poor soil…

But, what do you really know about Marigolds?

Turns out that this common flower has some pretty amazing super powers!

why olive oil is good for your skin

It’s been used for centuries around the globe for everything from honoring the dead to coloring fabrics and dressing wounds. It even appears in food!

This perky little flower may even predict the weather. Some believe if the Cape marigold (also called the African marigold) opens in the morning, rain is on the way. The Farmer’s Almanac says, “When the African marigold opens later than 8:00 a.m. or closes before 5:00 p.m., rain can be expected.”

Marigolds include a huge variety of plants, and they are in the same plant family as daisies and carnations. What we get excited about is Calendula Officinalis — the English marigold also known as pot marigold.

Benefits Your Skin & Scalp

We love Calendula Officinalis because it benefits your skin and your scalp. From soothing eczema, to relieving acne and healing wounds, marigolds are worth their weight in gold when it comes to skin care.

Marigolds have antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. WOW! That makes it a super power plant in our book.

Let’s break that down into what it means to you…

 • Anti-aging: Marigold extract helps keep your skin young in two different ways: It promotes skin tightness, which reduces day-to-day damage and makes the skin look younger, and it also increases hydration in the skin, which helps keep fine lines and wrinkles from appearing.
 • Like a good sunscreen, Calendula Officinalis extract helps protect skin against UV rays.
 • Calendula extract stimulates collagen production. Collagen “plumps up” your skin and keeps it elastic, like younger skin.
 • Soothing: Marigold’s anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties have a soothing effect on skin, calming conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Regular use may help control itchy flare-ups.
 • Its antiseptic properties are helpful for treating wounds and preventing acne.
 • Its antioxidant properties help protect against pollutants and photoaging caused by sunlight.

There’s a Lot to Love In This Tiny Fruit https://luxeorganix.com/theres-a-lot-to-love-in-this-tiny-fruit/ Thu, 11 Feb 2021 17:18:54 +0000 https://luxeorganix.com/?p=10727 The post There’s a Lot to Love In This Tiny Fruit appeared first on LuxeOrganix.

There is a LOT to love about olives! They’ve been used for thousands of years for cooking, cleaning, healing, lighting, and more.

Known by its botanical name Olea europaea, the olive tree was cultivated and olive oil was used by the Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans. The earliest production of olive oil is thought to have started before 4000 BC.

why olive oil is good for your skin

Olive oil is pressed from the Olive fruit. It’s prized for its emollient, moisturizing properties. (Emollients are what make your skin soft and smooth.)

How do we love thee?

Let us count the ways…

(Our sincere apologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning for playing with the opening lines to her great poem on love.)

Olive oil is rich in antioxidants and vitamins. It contains vitamins A, D, K, and E, as well as squalane.

Used in skincare products, the antioxidant properties of olive oil protect skin cells from environmental damage and inflammation. This is a real boon for skin suffering with scarring and acne.

All of those vitamins decrease the effects of oxidative stress on your skin. Oxidative stress is an imbalance of free radicals and antioxidants in your body, and one of the causes of accelerated skin aging… So, say goodbye to wrinkles!

Olive oil’s main benefit to your skin is that it’s a great moisturizer. Olive oil hydrates and forms a protective barrier on your skin, thanks in part to the squalane it contains.

It’s the Squalane…

Squalane (with an “a“) is a plant-based version of squalene (with an “e”), which is naturally produced by your body. More specifically, Squalene is a lipid, or fat, made naturally by the sebaceous glands in your skin. It hydrates and maintains the barrier of your skin.

After the age of 30, the amount of squalene your body produces decreases. This is why you have drier skin as you age. The squalane in olive oil acts like the squalene produced by your body. It can benefit all skin types (including sensitive skin).

Because it works to naturally seal in moisture, squalane helps with problems where the skin barrier is disrupted and water loss is an issue. This includes conditions like eczema, acne, and psoriasis. These conditions also benefit from olive oil’s anti-inflammatory properties.

Olive that!

Olive oil is like a superfood for your skin. It:

 • Prevents premature aging
 • Moisturizes and softens
 • Reduces inflammation and scarring
 • Softens fine lines and wrinkles
 • Reduces oxidative stress
 • Protects from environmental damage

Olive thee purely, to continue along the lines of Ms. Barret’s poem!

Can You Name 8 Benefits of Aloe Vera? https://luxeorganix.com/can-you-name-8-benefits-of-aloe-vera/ Fri, 18 Sep 2020 22:38:19 +0000 https://luxeorganix.com/?p=7287 The post Can You Name 8 Benefits of Aloe Vera? appeared first on LuxeOrganix.

You know that feeling when something is so good you want to use it in everything?

(Like Pumpkin Spice… Mmmmmmm-mmmm!)

Well, we feel that way about Organic Aloe Barbadensis, more commonly known as Aloe Vera.

It’s not just an easy-to-grow houseplant… It’s a super-hero, hiding in plain sight!

Aloe Vera is the gel that comes from an aloe plant, a succulent that grows wild in tropical and subtropical areas. While native to North Africa, Southern Europe, and the Canary Islands, the aloe plant is now grown worldwide.

For hundreds of years, Aloe Vera has been used by many different people around the globe. It is rich in nutrients, aids in digestion, and even boosts immunity — it nourishes the body from the inside. Among other things, Aloe Vera contains protein with 18-20 amino acids, and vitamins A, B, C, and E. As a topical gel, it’s a miracle worker for both your skin and your hair.

But what do you really know about Aloe Vera? We’ve taken the time to highlight eight of its really amazing benefits for your hair and skin.

Speeds Skin Healing

Aloe Vera is rich in antioxidants and minerals that boost your skin’s healing process. Its cooling and anti-inflammatory properties makes it one of the most natural remedies for sunburn or burnt skin.

It also speeds up skin cell reproduction, making it heal up to eight times faster. And Aloe Vera penetrates the epidermis (the outer layer of your skin) faster than water!

Moisturizes Skin

Aloe Vera applied to your skin helps form a protective layer, and it helps your skin retain moisture. Unlike moisturizers that rely on harsh chemicals, Aloe Vera does not leave a greasy film on your skin. In fact, it does just the opposite – Aloe Vera unclogs pores and softens your skin. This is why we use it in our Vitamin C Infusion Nourishing Daily Moisturizer. You’ll notice the difference right away.

Because Aloe Vera gel helps to keep your skin hydrated and quickly heal wounds, it can be used as an aftershave-treatment to speed healing from razor burns and smaller nicks & cuts. (Ladies, share your moisturizer with the man in your life! Or just get him one of his own so you always have yours.)

It’s Anti-Aging

Aloe Vera has vitamins C, E, and beta-carotene in abundance, giving it amazing anti-aging properties.

Working in tandem with the anti-inflammatory benefits, this power duo diminishes those pesky fine lines, which is why we include it in our Brilliant Eyes Bio-Advanced Daily Eye Cream.

Aloe Vera also helps to increase collagen production, which increases your skin elasticity. …Nobody needs to know you’re aging!

Fights Infection and Acne

Aloe Vera is the perfect ingredient for gentle cleansing because it penetrates your skin quickly and it unclogs pores. Its antimicrobial properties treat pimples without causing any damage to the skin. And its antiseptic properties provide a layer of protection against bacteria.

Because it’s so gentle, we use it in our Psoriasis Shampoo + Body Wash, which is designed for sensitive skin.

Aloe Vera contains polysaccharides and gibberellins, which help in the growth of new cells and at the same time, reduce inflammation and redness. So, it works as an astringent that reduces the size of pores by flushing out the excess sebum, microbes, and dirt.

Lightens Blemishes

As you read above, Aloe Vera contains powers to boost skin cell reproduction, reduce redness, and fight skin inflammation. This makes it a natural treatment for stretch marks and acne scars. When combined with other ingredients that have a lightening effect, it also sends hyper-pigmentation packing.

Conditions Your Hair and Scalp

Similar to the way that Aloe Vera moisturizes your skin, it helps condition your hair and soften it. Regular use of Aloe Vera on your hair and scalp helps to maintain the vitality and shine of your hair. Who doesn’t want shiny hair?

Which is exactly why we’ve used it in both our Morrocan Argan Oil Conditioner and our Invigorate Biotin Conditioner. Shiny hair is not just #Goals – it’s achievable!

Helps Hair Grow

Aloe Vera increases the blood circulation to your scalp, activating new hair growth. It also provides essential minerals and vitamins to nourish your scalp, and it contains proteolytic enzymes that help repair damaged cells. A healthy scalp allows for more hair growth and less hair fall.

Eradicates Dandruff

Aloe Vera helps heal dry skin, fungal infections, and excessively oily skin. All of these are significant causes of dandruff. So, keeping them at bay, keeps dandruff away.

Why are we going on and on about Aloe Vera?

Because we thought you might not know about it… and we use it in many of our products.

Our newest product – the Organic Psoriasis Shampoo + Body wash – even lists it first in the ingredients list, which means it is the number one ingredient by volume. It’s also the number one ingredient in our Brilliant Eyes Bio-Advanced Eye Cream, and Vitamin C Infusion Nourishing Daily Face Moisturizer.

We also use Organic Aloe Vera in both the Morrocan Argan Oil and Invigorate Biotin Conditioners, the Kakadu Vitamin C Brightening Serum, and our Remarkably Clean Purifying Facial Cleanser.

We use it everywhere because it is just… AMAZING.

And we thought you should know more about it!
